YouTube stars Gigi Gorgeous, Connor Franta, and Kat Blaque are all gracing the cover of The Advocate's special 50th anniversary issue!
Theirs is one of several special covers commemorating the five decades The Advocate—PRIDE's sister publication and the oldest LGBT news and politics magazine in the United States—has been around.
The vlogging trio represent the decade of the 2000s to the 2010s, and the newest generation of queer activists using social media to get their empowering messages to audiences.
Kat Blaque, who is the host of PRIDE's movie-themed Netflix and Chill web series, is well-known for her informative videos on social activism, where she talks about a ton of different topics ranging from politics, to culture, to her experiences of being a young, African-American, transgender woman.
After his public coming out in late 2014, Connor Franta has become a vocal proponent of LGBT rights. He is involved in so many projects, with his most notable being Heard Well, a record label whose entire purpose so far is to have other well-known social media personalities (a.k.a. 'tastemakers') create compilations of more on-the-rise musicians.
Makeup and lifestyle guru Gigi Gorgeous came out as trans in 2013 and as a lesbian in 2016, and has become a visible trans face in a beauty industry that is often dominated by straight, cisgender people. Her fun, lighthearted videos reach millions.
