Amber Heard is no longer staying silent about her turbulent year. The actress (who came out as queer in 2010) made headlines when she married Johnny Depp in 2015, and this year she's been back in them as she endured a divorce that ultimately gave way to alleged verbal, emotional, and physical abuse at the hands of her husband. Ultimately, Amber won a seven million dollar settlement that - although the divorce is still being finalized - she has pledged to donate to the American Civil Liberties Union with a focus on battling violence against women, and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where she's been a volunteer. Amber has been relatively silent about her personal experience, but she recently sat down with Girlgaze in honor of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Towards Women. Watch Amber's passionate statement below:
If you're unfamiliar with Amber's previous work, we've already compiled a 101 guide for how you can get to know her.
