It's looking more and more possible that Carol will be the best movie of 2015.

Stop what you're doing: there's a new trailer for Carol and it's worth every moment of your time. The film, based on Patricia Highsmith's 1952 lesbian novel The Price of Salt, is helmed by out director Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven) and stars Cate Blanchett as Carol, a socialite housewife who falls in love with a store clerk, Therese (Rooney Mara).

Sarah Paulson, Carrie Brownstein, and Kyle Chandler round out this highly impressive cast and give us all that much reason to have faith that Carol really might be the highest cinematic point of the year. This particular trailer features a glimpse at the intimate romance between Carol and Therese and the series of consequences their affair has on those around them. Carol's grounded yet emotional voice-over and the beautifully sweeping score also get points for giving us chills.

Carol has already seen impressive success at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and as of November 20th we'll all get the chance to experience this beautiful drama for ourselves (or perhaps a few days later, if you're not in one of the select cities in which it will first debut).

There's so much to look forward, but for now enjoy this new look at a sure-to-be gorgeous film.
