Pop star Miley Cyrus spoke with the AP about the launch of her new initiative to help LGBT homeless youth, The Happy Hippie Foundation, but buried in the story about her organization that will provide digital support groups for LGBT youth and their families and will also help fund a homeless youth center in Hollywood, was a little queer gem. Miley, the former Hannah Montana Disney starlet, told the AP that not all of her relationships have been "straight/heterosexual," which definitely appears to be a coming out.
Miley didn’t elaborate, according to the AP.
Just a few days prior to the AP interview, she told Out that she “didn’t want to be a boy” but that she dislikes gender roles/binaries.
“I kind of wanted to be nothing,” she told Out magazine. “I don’t relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that’s what I had to understand: Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”
The quote about Miley's not wanting to be put into a specific box resonated so much for her that she instagrammed it adding, "NOTHING can/will define me. Free to be EVERYTHING!!!"
