Amy Poehler has won Emmys for her comedy, but offscreen she is a vocal campaigner for female empowerment. Her organization, Amy Poehler's Smart Girls, encourages young women through funny and educational web videos. The site just premiered the first video of a new series called She Said. The video features out couple and comedians Cameron Esposito—the wonderful lesbian with a side mullet who rocked iTunes last year with the release of her comedy album Same Sex Symbol—and her girlfriend, standup comedian Rhea Butcher. The women talk frankly (and funnily) about questions pertaining to the female body.
"When did you get your first period?" they ask each other, and, "When did you first go to the gynocologist?" By talking frankly and openly about their experiences, they encourage girls everywhere to lose body-shame and be inquisitive about their bodies. Check out the awesome video below.
