10 Spectacular Queer Couples Costume Ideas for You and Your Girlfriend This Halloween

Entertainment edition, because who doesn't want to dress like sexy rival warriors in an apocalypse?

Okay everyone, it's officially October which means if you don't start planning your elaborate and completely impressive Halloween costume soon you'll fall pretty far behind. Luckily, we've got you covered with ten basically foolproof ideas you and your girlfriend (or platonic friends, they're fun too) can totally rock at the big Halloween party you still need to RSVP to on Facebook. Now's your chance to bring your favorite TV characters to life with accuracy, enthusiasm, and maybe a slightly shorter skirt than usual, simply because you can. And if you have a killer couples costume idea that you want to tell the world about, definitely shout it out in the comments. Happy fall to us all!

10. Tara Chambler and a zombie from The Walking Dead

It's time to show some love for Tara Chambler, a truly unappreciated member of The Walking Dead squad. We highly recommend you grab some worn-out zombie apocalypse fashions and Tara-it-up with your girlfriend by your side as an accompanying zombie. Frankly, it's Halloween and being a zombie just make a lot of sense, so you might as well couple that obviousness with the one lesbian character on this popular show!

9. Piper and Alex / Piper and Stella from Orange is the New Black

You have a choice to make here. Are you team Vauseman, or team really happy to see Ruby Rose onOrange is the New Black? We're throwing our vote in for Piper and Stella, simply because we think a fake "Trust No Bitch" tattoo would be a pretty rad edition to your costume (or, hey, maybe a real tattoo, we don't know how hard you go on Halloween). But hey, Vauseman love is a pretty intense thing, and it's possible you don't want anything to come between that. Also, at the end of the day you can just dress up as whichever OITNB character your heart is feeling. Grab as many friends as you want to tag along. The possibilities are endless.

8. Clarke and Lexa from The 100

They have their ups, they have their downs, and they also had one of the best kisses in maybe TV history. These warrior women may often be at odds, but their awesome futuristic forest-wear and intense chemistry would undoubtedly be really fun to work with this Halloween. Clexa forever.

7. Sara Lance and Nyssa Al-Ghul from Arrow

Bows and arrows! Badassery! Making out on rooftops! Really, what more could you want out of Halloween? This super-duo may have a bad track record with survival on The CW, but that doesn't mean you can't party all night long in real life.

6. Bo and Lauren / Bo and Tamsin from Lost Girl

Get your doccubus on this Halloween with this all-time faevorite duo. However, we totally get that some people are more Team Tamsin, so switch out that lab coat for some leather if that's more your style. Either way, you'll probably be the cutest couple in the room. Unless you're at a party with everyone who followed this guide, in which case you're all adorable and that's the best party in town.

5. Cosima and Delphine from Orphan Black

Sexy science, anyone? Things may have ended less than well for these two last season, but don't despair. You can relive all of Cophine's best moments over and over again this Halloween while potentially making everyone in the room who cares about Orphan Black cry profusely over what went down in that finale.

4. The lesbian vampires we haven't met yet on The Vampire Diaries

Do you like to stay ahead of the trends? Does the phrase 'lesbian vampire' kinda sound really great to you? Congrats, you're in luck, and here they are. Next year who knows how many people will be dressing up as the lesbian vampires from The Vampire Diaries, so don't you want to say you did it first?

3. Stef and Lena from The Fosters

Pro-tip: this costume will work best if you're in charge of a lot of children on Halloween night. And hey, Halloween does involve a lot of children running around, so this is a pretty solid way to keep your costuming game strong while also staying responsible for child-watching duties. Even better, you might get to eat some of their candy. Who needs a party when you have a daunting amount of fun size Milky Ways?

2. Emily and All Her Girlfriends from Pretty Little Liars

Remember when we said some of these would be great costumes to try out with friends? Gather a gaggle of ladies and tackle the task of reviving every possible girlfriend Emily's ever had in Rosewood. The only con here is people will know which friend you like the best (Paige = in great standing, Samara = probably forgot to Venmo more than once). Even better, you can find out which girlfriend you actually are in this amazing quiz we once created (before the days of Sara Harvey). Now get on it!

1. Vampire Willow and Regular Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We definitely saved the best for last. What better way to celebrate Halloween than by paying homage to "Doppelgangland," one of Buffy's best episodes where queer witch Willow encounters an alternate universe vampire version of herself? One Willow is adorable and wears fluffy sweaters, the other is terrifying and wears super tight leather. Truly, every possible Halloween costume base is covered here. You won the holiday! Great job!
