Bill Clinton will honor Edie Windsor and Roberta Kaplan for the fight and success in overturning the Defense of Marriage Act.
Clinton will be honoring Windsor and Kaplan at the first Logo TV’s first Trailblazers television special airing June 26 honoring pioneers in the LGBT civil rights movement, according to NewNowNext. Clinton, who originally signed DOMA into law, is enthusiastic about honoring the two women for their tireless fight that impacted and will continue to impact millions of Americans.
“Seventeen years after signing DOMA into law, I was honored and grateful to be among the voices urging that it be overturned,” said Clinton in a statement. “The decision would not have happened without Edie Windsor’s dogged determination to right a wrong and Roberta Kaplan’s equal commitment to simple fairness. As marriage equality spreads across the states, the number of people impacted by these two amazing women will only continue to grow.”
Logo TV’s Trailblazers will showcase LGBT activists from around the country being honored by multiple celebrities. Demi Lovato will honor Orange is the New Blackand Daniel Radcliffe will be with The Trevor Project in honoring four LGBT youths making changes in their communities for the betterment of the community.
