10 Spectacular On-Screen Lady Couples We'd LOVE to See in 2015
Realistic? Debatable. Amazing? 100x YES.
It's that time of year again, folks! Yep, it's that magical time of year when we look back on all the previous times of the year and forward at all the times of the new year that are yet to come. So many things to reminisce about! So many things to look forward to! However, I think we can all agree there's nothing to look forward to quite as enthusiastically as a bunch of on-screen couples that will probably never happen, so that's exactly what we're taking a moment to do! 2014 offered us many a special fictional couple, but we have much higher hopes for 2015. Some may call them impossible hopes, but that doesn't mean we haven't crafted detailed circumstances where they might become entirely somewhat viable. So read on, and let us know your favorite probably impossible but totally awesome couple too! The possibilities are literally endless...
1. Beca and Chloe in Pitch Perfect 2: If you don't realize this was actually happening in the first Pitch Perfect, then you either haven't seen it or were paying the minimal level of attention. Beca and Chloe (that's Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow) totally have "Bulletproof"-in-the-shower level chemistry, and we're aca-mistic that this connection will make a comeback in the upcoming sequel. Chloe may not have nodes, but she's got eyes for Beca and we're totally ready for that love duet.
2. Meera Reed and Arya Stark on Game of Thrones: 'Random,' you might say? 'Completely disconnected,' you might muse? 'Who even is Meera Reed again, there's like 5000 characters on this show,' you may assert? Well, to refresh your memory, Meera's that bad-ass, fur-engulfed, knife-wielding Northerner who's been helping Bran on his mission to the 3 eyed crow, and we all know who Arya Stark is because she's always amazing. These two characters have a lot in common and would actually probably really enjoy each other's company. They might even become, like, the Batman and Robin of Westeros. In this case we're not even after a romantic storyline, just these two teaming up to be awesome and maybe take the Iron Throne. Random? Yes. Impossible? No, because this series really may go on forever.
3. Johanna Mason and Cressida Bones in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2: We may have gotten 0.5 seconds of our fave District 7 victor Johanna Mason in Mockingjay Part 1, but at least we had Cressida Bones and her amazing tattooed undercut to make up for the absence. Seriously, Natalie Dormer may actually be an ethereal fairy goddess from another place of existence. Anyway, in the next movie surely Johanna will be around more and we can assume (and pray) Cressida will be around more too, and all we want is for these two warrior women with strong, passionate points of view to connect. And become best friends. And maybe marry and escape Panem forever and make lots of edgy political documentaries. For all you Hunger Games fans out there who are like, 'Um, this definitely doesn't and won't exist...' we say this: "Shhhhhhhhhh."
4. Rosa Diaz & Anna Kendrick's Mortician on Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Okay, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is already pretty gay. The precinct’s Captain Ray Holt is an out gay man who openly talks about his struggles in the force, and we often encounter his husband, Kevin Cozner, who’s a professor at Columbia University. But why stop there?! If you ever turned on Brooklyn Nine-Nine you know you love the Detective Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz), who's like some long-lost sister of Parks and Rec’s April Ludgate (Aubrey Plaza) with an abrasively sarcastic sense of humor and shrouded in so much mystery basically the only thing her coworkers know about her is that she exists. They also know she seems to only date men, but we've got an irresistible plot twist. How about her next romantic fling is found in a sarcastically sullen coroner played by none other than Anna Kendrick? She and Diaz bonded over a particularly grisly case, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. You’re welcome Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Also, we're pretty sure one day we'll go back to writing articles that don't mention Anna Kendrick more than once, but that day is not today.
7. Eleanor and Max on Black Sails: 'But that's cheating!' you may be thinking, since Eleanor and Max actually were a couple on Starz's swashbuckling pirate show. Well, no it's not cheating because they only had two episodes together and then everything crashed and burned so furiously nothing else on the show was okay ever again. So look, second seasons are for second chances and if this couple doesn't reunite or at the VERY least interact, it will take all the gold in all the hidden treasure chests in the world to make up for this glaring mistake. No Maxeanor = a pirate's life will definitely not be for me.
8. Maria Hill and Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron: Okay, there might be some cannon in the history of Avengers that will have people yelling at me about this pair, but who isn't here for a Superhero-y/Intelligence-y lesbian power couple comprised of Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smulders? Who would walk out on that? Plus, once again, shout-out once again Haus Whedon, who we may have to stop saying is so great at queer characters if they stop happening. Also, Marvel comic miniseries The Young Avengers has a lovely gay superhero couple and has even won some GLAAD awards. Yes, it has actually won GLAAD awards, so let's bring some of that energy to the big screen, why don't we?

9. Anyone on The Vampire Diaries/Reign/The 100/and Probably iZombie on The CW: I mean, we can get thesis-level specific on who would make the best couple and why, but this is not that article. The CW is truly trying with LGBT representation (and occasionally not doing so well - here's to you Adrianna on 90210), but really could take a tip from ABC Family and MTV and up the ante on lady couples. Let's just look at statistics, if you will. Jane the Virgin has earned the CW its first-ever Golden Globe nominations, and it's also a show of theirs that has prominent lesbian characters. And no, we're not saying the two things are at all connected, we're only looking at statistics. And statistics don't lie. Statistically, lesbians will get you Golden Globes.
10. The Ghosts in Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension: Good god, there's another one? Really? The only way you could get us into a Paranormal Activity at this point is if, say, the ghosts that were haunting the house were lesbian lovers torn apart in some tragedy who are now trying to make it back to the same plane of existence so they can spend their eternal afterlife together. Wait, yes. That. Make that movie.
