Gender is a multifaceted issue. the GENDER book provides an easy-to-read yet still full-of-information guide to understanding gender. Boston Bostian, Mel Reiff Hill, Jay Mays and Robin Mack are the four Texans behind the GENDER book's creation. They have spent three years researching writing, editing, and drawing and now the final product is available to order.
The book contains 90 pages of fully illustrated information, including the explanation of terms such as drag queen, drag king, intersex, genderqueer, and transgender. All of the information in the GENDER book is presented in an accessible, nonjudgmental manner as the reader accompanies main character Boston on a gender exploration journey. Three days remain to donate to their Kickstarter campaign to help fund printing of the now-finished manuscript.
Education surrounding gender is slowly undergoing a change to reflect the new understanding of such a complicated subject, but the team behind the GENDER book wanted to create a fast solution. "We thought there should be a resource you can read in one sitting. It should be illustrated and as fun as a kid's book while going into some real depth and true stories," writes Reiff Hill. "The book should help people come out and educate their friends and family."
Advance copies of the GENDER book will only be available to pre-order during the month of December. Donators to the Kickstarter campaign have the opportunity to also give copies of the GENDER book to LGBT community organizations, schools, and libraries.
