Though Wicked has many timeless themes and message, at the core, the highly-anticipated movie-musical is a story of love and friendship between two women, Elphaba (Out100 cover star Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande).

While attending the red carpet of the film's Los Angeles premiere this past Saturday, Out got the chance to talk to some of the stars of the film, and they gave their own insights as to what makes this love story so profound and special for audiences.

"I loved it because I believe in support and champion diverse love of every single kind, love is love," Jeff Goldblum, who plays the wizard in Wicked, told Out when asked about being a part of a film like this. "We are love. We are made of love. When the Big Bang happened and the cosmos emerged and this glorious planet allowed us to be here from the earth up, we are all connected and made of something that could be called L-O-V-E."

"I think we need more love in the world to go around for sure," Out100 honoree Marissa Bode adds. "For people to see that on screen, I think maybe that will be a great time for people to reflect on themselves and their relationships with other people as well."
