Dan Levy is headed back to television!

The Schitt’s Creek star is joining the upcoming fourth season of the Netflix fan-favorite series Sex Education, taking on the recurring role of Thomas Molloy – an author who is tutoring Maeve (Emma Mackey) at an Ivy League college in the United States.

The new storyline comes as part of a shift in what Sex Education has been for the last three seasons. As the main characters’ time at Moordale Secondary is coming to an end, Otis (Asa Butterfield) and Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) are moving on to Cavendish Sixth Form College.

Season four will follow their attempts to adjust to the vibe of a new school, with Chinenye Ezeudu, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Aimee-Lou Wood, and Connor Swindells also returning alongside Gillian Anderson and several other familiar faces.

Meanwhile, four cast members said goodbye at the end of Sex Education season three: Patricia Allison (Ola), Tanya Reynolds (Lily), Simone Ashley (Olivia), and Rahkee Thakrar (Emily).

Netflix has already shared a first look at Levy’s role in the show, and his intentionally slightly-bedraggled author aesthetic already has fans hyped for whatever is to come.

Thaddea Graham, Marie Reuther, Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, and Imani Yahshua have also been announced as new series regulars for the upcoming season, which is currently filming.

Sex Education previously announced a casting call for two trans actors to play a couple by the names of Abbi and Kent in season four.

There is no word yet on when season four will premiere, but it is currently expected to premiere in 2023.
