Season three cannot come quickly enough.

Although we probably won’t see any new episodes of Euphoria until sometime next year, anticipation for season three remains high among the show’s loyal fans. Fortunately, Zendaya is teasing what she hopes the future will bring for the HBO hit.

The actress spoke with The Hollywood Reporter recently about her work on the show, particularly stepping up to serve as an executive producer and contribute more broadly to the show’s narrative trajectory.

“I think it’ll be exciting to explore the characters out of high school,” she said. “I want to see what Rue looks like in her sobriety journey, how chaotic that might look. But also with all the characters, in the sense where they’re trying to figure out what to do with their lives when high school is over and what kind of people they want to be.”

Rue went through a lot with her drug addiction and ultimate decision to get sober in season two, providing the opportunity for Zendaya to give a genuinely heart-wrenching performance that cemented her even more as one of the most talented actors in her generation. She isn’t the only actor from Euphoria who got to dig deep into the drama during the season, but she’s also pushing for even more of that in the future.

“What was special about this season was that we got to dive into [the other characters] in a much deeper sense. I think we can do that again with the third season. There’s so much talent, you want to make sure everybody has the chance to have that,” she said.

Zendaya’s full interview can be found here, as just a little something to hold onto while we all eagerly await the next installment of everyone’s favorite hot mess of a teen drama.
