This could get messy!

Think you’re the biggest Katy Perry fan on the planet? A new reality show just might give you the chance to prove it to the world.

CBS announced this week that it has ordered a new unscripted series called Superfan, centered around contestants competing over who is the biggest fan of a particular musical artist.

No real details are known about the show just yet, but Deadline calls it “a musical spectacle disguised as a game show that will feature several rounds of play where fans will have the ability to advance to a final round for the chance to prove they are the ultimate fan.”

And it sounds like the goal is to actually have those crowned superfans engage in some sort of “ultimate experience” with the celebrity they competed over.

Fandoms can be weirdly competitive as is, and people are already planning their strategies to win out the title and be named the biggest fan of their forever fave.

However, some have wondered how plausible it will be to expect some of the biggest names in music to agree to participate in an “ultimate experience” for superfans, potentially leaving the artists over which people compete to not exactly be A-listers, or leaving the prize underwhelming.

Still, it could be a fun experience to participate in and to watch for those itching to find a new use for their in depth knowledge of certain artists -- but we better get some really deep cuts from this show if it aims to crown true champions. Let's go!
