Netflix Is Producing a Scott Pilgrim Anime Series
But will the cast return?
Scott Pilgrim, the beloved graphic novel series and 2010 movie starring Michael Cera, could be headed to the small screen as an animated series!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is in the pre-production stages of the series alongside Universal Studio Group who also produced The Umbrella Academy and Chucky.
Bryan Lee O’Malley, the original creator of Scott Pilgrim, is writing and executive producing the series. The band members from Vs. The World movie are also "on hand for the anime."
It's unclear how the story will play out, if it'll rehash the same content from the movie or graphic novel or birth something new, or if the film's beloved cast will return as voice actors. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, and Brie Larson filled out the iconic cast aside Cera.
The franchise is a favorite among geeks and the LGBTQ+ community alike. Who can forget that iconic "I'm a little bi-furious" joke?
At the very least, we should get some new music from Sex Bob-omb? We'll keep our fingers crossed!
