PBS is really bringing the inclusivity these days.

Where there is inclusion and progress, One Million Moms is sure to be protesting!

The group’s latest target is PBS’s Clifford the Big Red Dog, which apparently has introduced a character with two moms.

“Now, the recent reboot of the PBS children’s series Clifford the Big Red Dog contains a child character named Samantha who has two mommies, Dr. and Ms. Mulberry,” reads the anti-PBS campaign from One Million Mom’s only actual mom, Monica Cole.

“The same-sex couple was first introduced in a mid-February episodes titled ‘The Big Red Tomato/Dogbot.’ There was no disclaimer at the beginning of the episode where their relationship is explained.”

The call to action, titled “PBS KIDS is Taking Advantage of Parental Trust,” goes on to blast PBS for how inclusive it’s become lately. Not only did the show Arthur include the infamous same-sex rat wedding that had conservative lawmakers threatening to defund the station, but then PBS and HBO brought Billy Porter to Sesame Street which…also had conservative lawmakers threatening to defund the station.

“Many families have already discovered that PBS KIDS, largely supported by federal funds, is anything but family friendly," the campaign warns, completely ignoring that families with LGBTQ parents and/or children exist.

This latest iteration of Clifford began airing on both PBS and Amazon Prime last December. That one of the characters has two moms does not seem to have been brought to the attention of the public prior to Cole’s decision to campaign against it, so we have to thank her for giving us a heads up about this wonderfully casual inclusion.
