With the announcement of the Season 13 queens of RuPaul's Drag Race, a contestant named Gottmik has made herstory as the series' first transgender male competitor.
The beloved reality competition has featured transgender women in the past, including Peppermint, Gia Gunn, and more, but this is the first time RuPaul's Drag Race has a trans male competitor.
And Gottmik is ready to represent their community.
"I need to be the first trans winner of RuPaul's Drag Race, period," the Los Angeles-based makeup artist said in their Meet the Queens interview.
Exploring their drag character went hand in hand with unpacking their trans identity. "The more and more I got comfortable with my gender identity, the more I got to play with my drag, Gottmik side."
So here comes Gottmik! "The trans movement is getting so big, so powerful, so strong," emphasizing their desire to "win this crown for my community."
RuPaul's Drag Race Season 13 premieres Friday, January 1, at 8pm ET/PT on VH1!
