Iconic 'Family Guy' Character Finally Came Out, Marries His Boyfriend

It's about time!

If you're a longtime fan and watcher of FOX's beloved animated series Family Guy, then you already know who Bruce is.

The recurring character is known for his high-pitched voice, for always lamenting about his longtime boyfriend Jeffrey, and for his signature "Oh nooooo!" catchphrase.

Well, after literal decades of just being there for comedic relief, Bruce finally got a special episode dedicated to his love story this past weekend, and we love to see it!

In the sixth episode of season 19 entitled "Meg's Wedding," Bruce and Jeffrey finally get married to each other, but in usual Family Guy style, it only happened after a convolutedly hilarious plot.

When Meg can't find a date to the school dance and is again forced to acknowledge that she is continually lonely, Bruce agrees to start dating her, much to the chagrin of the rest of the Griffin family who all know that Bruce is "obviously gay" (whatever that means). Because Meg is Meg, she refuses to believe that Bruce is anything but straight, and insists on continuing to date him, and with added pressure from Bruce's conservative parents who want him to be with a woman, the two end up getting engaged.

But the facade doesn't last for long, and during their wedding ceremony (and after seeing Jeffrey crying his eyes out), Meg finally realizes what's going on and that Bruce is only agreeing to marry her so that he can get the approval of his parents. In a surprisingly heartfelt moment, Meg becomes the ally and friend that Bruce really needs and calls the wedding off so that he and Jeffrey can be together. She urges Bruce to tell the truth to his parents, and after years of sly, queer-coded references and jokes, Bruce finally says the words "I'm gay!" on-screen.

At the end of the episode, Bruce and Jeffrey get married in a Walgreens parking lot (they couldn't get married in the church) with Peter officiating their union and the rest of the Griffin family and friends watching and cheering them on.

We weren't expecting this funny yet heartwarming queer moment on Family Guy this season so far, but we're oh so glad it finally happened!

Watch "Meg's Wedding" and the rest of Season 19 of Family Guy on Hulu!
