NBC Shuts Down Rumors 'Will & Grace' Is Ending Because of On-Set Feud

Stars Debra Messing and Megan Mullally were rumored to have had a falling out.

After it was announced that the revival of Will & Grace would come to an end after the current season, it didn’t take long for speculation to swirl as to the cause of the show shutting down. And while some folks were quick to point the finger at a supposed feud between stars Debra Messing (Grace Adler) and Megan Mullally (Karen Walker), now NBC is stepping in to say it ain’t so.

“Some things come to a natural end,” NBC Chairman Paul Telegdy recently told TVLine. “[Series creators] Max [Mutchnick] and David [Kohan] told the story they wanted to tell. Just wait for the finale. It’s epic; it ties together so many threads. It is coming to a great, natural end.”

Numerous outlets have previously shared rumors that Messing and Mullally had some sort of fallout that not only contributed to the show ending, but also caused Mullally to take a short leave of absence from the 18-episode final season.

Fans realized ahead of the final season premiere last fall that the two actresses had unfollowed each other on social media, and Messing stopped tagging Mullally in posts about the show.

Titular star Eric McCormack (Will Truman) has previously tried to shut down any rumors of a feud.

“It seems crazy. It is crazy! I think people worried about that entirely too much,” he told Us Weekly last September. “The four of us get along like a house on fire, we always have.”

Whether the feud rumors have any truth to them or not, NBC seems content to let it be known that the show is ending simply because it’s time. As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Again.

The back half of the final season began airing again this past Thursday on NBC.
