The Disney+ spinoff of beloved gay teen rom-com Love, Simon is coming, and we've got some exciting new details about the series!
According to Variety, Annabelle Comes Home star Michael Cimino has been cast as the lead of the series. He plays Victor, "a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school."
Nick Robinson, who played Simon in the film, will return to his role as the show's narrator. He's also a producer of the half-hour series, which begins production in Los Angeles this month.
"Love, Simon is a powerful story embraced by critics and audiences alike for its universal messages of authenticity, love, and acceptance," said Disney + Senior Vice President of Content Agnes Chu. "We are honored to partner with the talented team at 20th Century Fox Television to bring this new chapter of a beloved story to Disney+, continuing the personal and uplifting narrative that captivated fans of the original film."
James Martinez will play Victor's "guy's guy" father Armando, Isabella Ferreira is Victor's angsty little sister Pilar, Mateo Fernandez debuts as Victor's adorable younger brother Adrian, Johnny Sequoyah will play Victor’s witty friend Mia, Bebe Wood is Mia's social media-savvy bestie Lake, George Sear will play Victor's charming classmate Benji, Anthony Turpel is Victor's awkward new neighbor Felix, and Booksmart star Mason Gooding is Creekwood's resident jock, Andrew.
