A Live-Action Little Mermaid Musical Is Coming to ABC
Moana's Auli'i Cravalho and the legendary Queen Latifah are set to star!
Excited AF for the highly-anticipated, live-action remake of The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey, but can't wait until it hits theaters sometime in the next two years? Fret not! To help whet Little Mermaid stans' appetites, ABC is producing a special live-action, musical event that is set to premiere this fall! Yes, this fall!
In honor of the classic animated film's 30th anniversary, ABC is set to air The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live!, a live-action, musical TV special that will also incorporate animation and puppetry, reports Deadline.
As if all that isn't already enough to intrigue our Disney-loving hearts, the cast so far also seems to be stacked, with Moana star Auli’i Cravalho taking on the titular role of Ariel, music/film legend and Oscar nominee Queen Latifah playing Ursula, and Shaggy (of "It Wasn't Me" fame) playing Sebastian the crab.
Not much else is known about the live special, but considering what we do know, we can already tell this is gonna be a must-see event for any Disney nerd out there, and we can't wait until it's a part of our world!!
The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! will premiere on ABC on November 5.
