Leaked 'Steven Universe Future' Trailer Has Us So Ready for New Season

But when do we get it??

The first trailer for Steven Universe Future has leaked!

We last saw the Crystal Gems in Steven Universe: The Movie, which jumped ahead two years after season five of the queer Cartoon Network show. Both the show and the movie acted as satisfying conclusions on their own, but we knew neither would be the end.

"Life is a little different these days," Steven says as the trailer begins, showing a happy-go-lucky world where Steven and his pals appear to have found freedom from the enemies that have continually threatened them. "We’re all safe to explore our dreams."

Of course, that would make for a boring movie, and things quickly dissolve into threads of chaos from there. Pink Pearl looks to be having some trouble, old villains Eyeball and Aquamarine have somehow returned, and an angry Steven looks more than ready to fight.

This trailer raises a ton of questions about the upcoming epilogue series, as any good trailer does, and unfortunately, we have no idea how long we’ll have to wait for the answers. The trailer leaked on reddit, and may not have even been the first one Cartoon Network (which has remained silent on the leak thus far) intended us to see. But there is definitely no public release date for the upcoming final foray into Steven Universe just yet.

But there is an official description: "After saving the universe, Steven is still at it, tying up every loose end. But as he runs out of other people’s problems to solve, he’ll finally have to face his own."

The original five-season run of Steven Universe brought so much positive and thoughtful queer representation to kids programming, and we can only assume that this last season will make good on the show’s legacy. So whenever it’s here, whatever it brings, we’re ready for it.
