On its 14th season, The Voice has featured the show's first transgender contestant.

31-year-old Angel Bonilla blew the judges away during the blind auditions with her soulful rendition of Sam Smith's "Lay Me Down" and was quickly snatched up by Team Adam.

Bonilla was thrilled to share her story on stage with the judges and the world.

"I was born Carlos back in the Philippines," she said. "As early as 5 years old, I already knew that I am a girl trapped in a boy’s body."

As her father watched proudly from the backstage, Bonilla opened up about her family. "Growing up in a very conservative family, it was very difficult for my father. When my dad saw me as a girl for the first time, he was puzzled. He’s not sure if I am his son, but he embraced me. I promised him that I will do great things. I wanted my father to be proud of me, and I’m doing this to honor him."

We can't wait to see Bonilla soar! Watch the clip below!
