MTV Is Rebooting TRL with Trans YouTube Star Gigi Gorgeous
"Living my childhood dream!"
MTV is bringing back its iconic afternoon music program TRL and just announced its newest social media correspondent, transgender YouTube star Gigi Gorgeous!
A post shared by GIGI GORGEOUS (@gigigorgeous) on
In its heyday, the insanely successful television program brought the music industry's biggest stars to our living rooms every afternoon and created iconic moments with the likes of Mariah Carey, the Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears—and MTV is hoping to recapture that magic.
"That ability to be live, in culture—not responding to it but driving it—is where we belong," MTV President Chris McCarthy told AdWeek.
Gigi Gorgeous is the newest announcement to the long list of TRL personalities. "Living my childhood dream and joining the @MTV @TRL family this fall," she wrote on Instagram.
MTV has also recruited influencers Eva Gutowski and Gabbie Hanna as social media correspondents joining previously announced hosts Liza Koshy, Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson, and Tamara Dhia. We can't wait to see them all on the Times Square set!
The revival is coming to a small screen near you on October 2nd!
