Larry David Plays the Ad Exec Who Coined 'That’s Gay' in Hilarious 'SNL' Skit

"It was a different time!"

On the latest episode of Saturday Night Live there was a skit where guest host Larry David, playing fictional ad mogul Martin Hammel, is receiving some form of lifetime achievement award for being an outstanding advertising executive.

In the skit, Cecily Strong plays a spokesperson from the Ad Council bestowing the award to Larry David, and in honor of the achievement, they decide to go back to some of the older advertisements that launched Martin’s career. The taglines for his ads are from the “Smart Choices” campaign from the early '80s, and, as you’ll notice, most of them aren't the most PC...

The audience’s responses are mostly pure disgust (for good reason).

I don’t want to spoil anything, so just go ahead and watch this absolutely absurd—and hilarious—skit in the video below!
