Ryan Murphy is about to smash your TV screen yet again. Murphy has always been inclusive of LGBTQ chracters in past shows he’s created, produced, and written for. Prime examples include Glee, American Horror Story, and Scream Queens. This time, Murphy is making TV history with his latest FX drama Pose, assembling the largest cast of transgender actors in series regular roles ever for a scripted series.

After a six-month long, nationwide search, casting director Alexa Fogel finally picked the show's leading trans cast! MJ Rodriguez (Blanca) has appeared on Nurse Jackie, The Carrie Diaries, Luke Cage and the film Saturday Church alongside Inaya Moore (Angel). Dominique Jackson (Elektra) is a ball performer and fashion model. Hailie Sahar (Lulu) has appeared on Mr. Robot and Transparent, where Angelica Ross (Candy) also played a role.

Deadline reported that Pose will be set in the 1980’s. The show, “looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in New York: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”

In addition to casting multiple transgender actors, the series will be bringing on emerging transgender directors to be mentored through Ryan Murphy’s Half Initiative and Directing Mentorship Program.

The pilot of Pose goes into production next month and will be filmed in NYC.

We CANNOT wait!!
