After a lot of back and forth and some leaked information courtesy of Leslie Jordan (leaked info is popular this year), the Will & Grace revival is a sure thing, NBC confirmed at the Television Critics Association tour today. There’s even an announcement video about the revival that’s got us beyond excited to see more of them.
The series about the friendship between a gay man and his straight female best friend ran for eight wildly successful seasons, taking its final bow in 2005. Prior to the election the Will & Grace principles Eric McCormack (Will), Debra Messing (Grace), Jack (Sean Hayes, and Karen (Megan Mullally reteamed for a 10-minute pro-Hillary Clinton election episode.
Rumors of a Will & Grace revival swirled following the election episode, especially when Leslie Jordan (who played Karen’s closeted nemesis Beverly Leslie) prematurely confirmed the reboot back in December. Of course, the internet went berserk over the glorious information until Messing put the kibosh on the excitement in a Tweet, suggesting that Jordan may not have had all of the information. But apparently, it’s all been ironed out since the network has officially confirmed it.
Now that Donald Trump’s inauguration is imminent, there’s never been a better time for searing comedy, so we couldn't be happier that the Will & Grace gang is back.
The network announced that the revival will consist of 10 episodes with all of the principle characters back on board to air during the 2017/18 season. Original series creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick will be back for the revival, as will acclaimed television director James Burrows (who directed every single episode of the series original run), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
