Well, it looks like Yara Greyjoy is officially our new favorite character on Game of Thrones. Of course, we already loved the near-queen of the Iron Islands, whose swagger and sea-sensibilities have remained unmatched by any of the thousands and thousands of characters on this show since day one.
However, last night she took things to a whole new level while getting all sorts of physical with a lady at a brothel. In the books, Yara isn't queer (hell, her name isn't even Yara, it's Asha), but we couldn't be more thrilled to see this change made.
Now, Game of Thrones has had a couple prominent LGBT characters - Renly Baratheon and Loras Tyrell, for example, burned bright for a hot second in season one - but those two have certainly had a rough go of it (spoilers: one is definitely dead). Ellaria Sand has also had sexual encounters with women and certainly several female characters have made out over the years, but Yara's lesbian reveal was bold, badass, and shameless. No one batted an eye and no one better because Yara may have been getting her pleasure on, but she also took some time to remind her little bro Theon that she was still all about the battle strategy. Of course, Theon wasn't super thrilled to be reminded that - following his castration by an enemy - he couldn't get in on the action, but Yara was getting enough for everyone, truly.

And if she really does follow through on her plan to team up with Dany, that's a team we'd proudly stand behind. Life in Westeros may certainly not be a happy one, but at least it is kind of a gay one!
