1. When he came out to the world
In 2013, at just 18 years old, Sivan came out as gay on YouTube.
"This is probably the most nervous I've ever been in my life," he begins. "It's not something I'm ashamed of, and it's not something should have to be ashamed of, so why not share it with all of you guys."
Many LGBT people feel isolated and afraid dealing with their sexuality, and these YouTube videos help many people who feel trapped in the closet feel less scared and alone. The video currently has over 7 million views and Sivan's story continues to inspire people all over the world with its message: it gets better.
