Dad Defends Son From Trolls After Posting Photos of Him Dressed as Cruella de Vil
Halloween is one of the most special days of the year. It's a day when you can dress up as whoever you want, and people won't judge you ... or at least that's how it's supposed to be. Liam, a 9-year-old boy, asked his father to dress him like Cruella de Vil, the iconic villain from 101 Dalmatians. He's just a kid being a kid, but some people had a different opinion about his costume...
According to an interview his dad did with The Gaily Grind, he's dressed as women the past few Halloweens: Cleopatra, Black Swan, Medusa, and now Cruella de Vil.
Liam's father posted a photo of his son in his Cruella de Vil outfit and make up on Facebook, and while most of the comments were positive, there was a couple people who felt the need to respond negatively: “I must say completely inappropriate, and I can’t believe a parent would ever do that to their child! Sorry if I offend you or your friends but I think it’s wrong!!!!"
The dad responded in the way that every gender non-conforming child would dream of: “We deal with this type of small minded person on a daily basis. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I will always support and encourage my kids creativity happily and without apology."
The dad continued in his interview, and said: “The most acceptable costumes for boys seem to usually have something to do with blood, gore, and killers. They find that more acceptable? I say live and let live. He’s 9. More kids should be allowed to explore their interests without fear.”
Soooo, coolest dad ever? Yes.
