17 Black Trans Activists Fighting for Liberation

As a strategic adviser for the Black Lives Matter movement, Elle Hearns has become a leading voice for black trans people. During the Convening for Black Lives in Cleveland this July, she made certain that the movement was aware that true liberation calls for centering the experiences and voices of black trans folk, particularly black trans women. Her tireless work has positioned her as a powerful force in politics as the Black Lives Matter movement continues to influence the 2016 presidential race. She is also the central region field coordinator for GetEqual, an organization that empowers and mobilizes LGBTQ folk for legal and social equality.
