We're obsessed with this behind-the-scenes look at the new original musical We Are The Tigers, currently playing at the Hudson Backstage Theatre in Los Angeles. We Are The Tigers was written and composed by Shewired's own Rebekah M. Allen, a playwright, composer, and lyricist in New York City. With a passion for creating original musical theatre projects that focus on female stories and showcase diverse female talent, Rebekah created We Are The Tigers as a suspenseful comedy that sees teenage girls exploring their identities and relationships while attempting to solve the mysterious murder of two teammates.
Here's the official synopsis:
"A new school year means a new beginning for the Tigers, the worst-ranked high school cheerleading team in the state. But when an innocent team-building sleepover becomes a mysterious murder scene, the Tigers will need more than just team spirit to survive the night – and each other. With an original pop/rock score, We Are The Tigers is a new comedy with a delightfully dark twist on the high school experience."
In this video, we see the cast and crew of We Are The Tigers at a sitzprobe rehearsal (which is the first time the team rehearses with the band). If this clip is any indication, it sounds like these cheerleaders are killin' it:
The world premiere of We Are The Tigers runs Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through November 8. For tickets and more information, visit www.wearethetigersmusical.com, and you can like the official Facebook page right here too!
