Emmy nominated actress Evan Rachel Wood is pretty active on Twitter, but her usual fun n' games, Dubsmash-oriented adventures took a brief break on Thursday in order to shed light on bisexuality, biphobia, bi erasure, and her experience as an out bisexual in a community that can be less than accepting. The commentary began with her tweeting a Human Rights Campaign post entitled "Bisexual Adults Face Heightened Risk for Health Issues Including Cancer, STDs and Depression," as well as the following quotes:

She continued on to quote some of the statistics the article shared about the physical and mental health of many bisexual adults:

Following her tweets directly quoting the HRC blog, Evan started sharing some personal, emotional insights. Her passionate discussion brings up battles she'd fought with her own identity, common misconceptions about bisexuality in general, and the struggle of fitting in even in the LGBT community.

Evan's tweets took off in a pretty huge way, with many news outlets covering the story and many of her Twitter followers reaching out to express their personal gratitude towards her honest, respectful, and educational approach.

This is clearly an important, necessary conversation that needs to keep happening, especially as we enter what is officially Bisexual Awareness Week from September 20th - 26th. Thank you for your honesty, Evan! Your Twitter is truly a beautiful place to be.
