The US Women’s soccer team faced the Japanese national team in front of an estimated 85,000 fans at Wembley on Thursday, in what was being billed as a shot at redemption for the US after their heartbreaking overtime loss at the 2011 World Cup.

The US Women’s National Team (WNT) had their 8 game win streak snapped by rival Japan on Monday after losing in the Algarve Cup Group B first place match by a 1-0 margin.

The U.S. women's soccer team defeated Canada 4-3 in dramatic fashion on Monday, when Alex Morgan put a header into the back of the net in the 122nd minute of second overtime play. The US trailed Canada 1-0 at the half, after Canadian superstar Christine Sinclair put our neighbors to the north on the board in the 22nd minute.

The London 2012 Olympics are only four days old, and have already provided enough dramatic storylines for the entire US women’s team and their fans. Earlier today, the US women’s gymnastics team won gold defeating Russia 183.596 to 178.530. It was the team’s first Olympic gold since the Atlanta games in 1996, and only the second gold medal for US Women’s Gymnastics overall.

Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) announced in a press release that its Board of Governors has voted to suspend the league’s 2012 season in order to focus on the resolution of pending legal issues. The suspension couldn’t come at a worse time for the sport. The two ladies who locked lips on Tuesday, and sent Tweeters into quite the Twittering frenzy, were Ukranian synchronized swimmers Daria Iushko and Kysenia Sydorenko. When they finished their synchronized duets free routine in the qualification round, the two kissed for the world to see. The kiss was not on the cheek, which is common for Ukranians to do, but a definite lady-lady lip lock. It was also not part of their routine, which some viewers originally thought was a possibility.
