I remember the pandemic as if it were yesterday because I lived and breathed it as both journalist and activist for a decade.

Rather than recapping our usual favorite lesbian-themed films like The Incredible Story of Two Girlsin Love, Kissing Jessica Stein, and Desert Hearts, I thought I’d take a moment to pay tribute to those great films with more subtle lesbian undertones that are sometimes overlooked.

Tony winner Ellen Barkin is in final negotiations to star in Allison Adler and Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy's new half-hour gay-themed comedy pilot entitled The New Normal. Normal is being described as a heartwarming comedy about a blended family, consisting of a gay couple and a woman who becomes the couple’s surrogate after they decide to start their own family. Out lesbian Allison Adler made headlines in 2011 for her split with her partner of 11 years Sara Gilbert.

Esteemed lesbian feminist poet Adrienne Rich has died at age 82. Rich died Tuesday at her home in Santa Cruz, Calif., her son Pablo Conrad told the Los Angeles Times.The cause was complications of rheumatoid arthritis; she had suffered from the disease for many years. Rich came out as a lesbian in the 1970s and had been with her partner, writer Michelle Cliff, since 1976.

Tig Notaro was ready to spill about her difficult year for a 30 minute set at the Largo Theater in Los Angeles in August. The set was intended for an episode of This American Life, after host Ira Glass was so impressed with her initial performance on the show back in May.

The episode of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva many LGBT fans of been waiting for airs this Sunday, July 24 at 9 PM. Inspired by the real life events surrounding high schooler and lesbian Constance McMillen being barred from attending prom with her girlfriend. Wanda Sykes will appear in episode five as Judge Yvonne Wright, who presides over a case inspired by Mississippi high school senior Constance McMillen, who was denied access to her prom because she wanted to attend with her girlfriend.
