Obama Makes No Mention of Marriage Equality in State of the Union Address
Despite increased pressure from gay and lesbian advocates to “evolve” his position on marriage equality a little sooner, President Barack Obama did not delve into the issue for his Tuesday evening State of the Union address, one that focused heavily on strengthening the economy and fostering innovation in the face of a fiercely competitive global market. “I thought it was a good speech, aspirational in many ways, as it should be, even though I thought the president missed an opportunity to build on the repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell' and lead the nation forward toward full LGBT equality,” said Richard Socarides, president of Equality Matters and a former White House adviser to President Bill Clinton.

Proudly Out: Myth Busters..Are Lesbians and Gays that Poor?
A recent study by the Williams Institute out of the UCLA Law School has also given us one more item for our list of great equalizers—lesbians and gay are also poor. The myth that all gays and lesbians are affluent with lots of disposable income is just that--a myth.
