For 35 years, Elizabeth Winship penned the syndicated “Ask Beth” column, which appeared in dozens of newspapers around the country. When she died Sunday at 90 in her hometown of Roseville, Minnesota, more than few LGBT fans shed a tear. That’s because from 1963 to 1998, Winship’s “Ask Beth” was one of the few people offering real advice to teens — and that meant a lot of queer and questioning kids.

Out Radio Personality Stephanie Miller Joins Current TV Lineup

Current TV will get gayer and undoubtedly funnier Monday when it begins simulcast of progressive lesbian Stephanie Miller’s radio talk show. The cable channel, cofounded by former vice president Al Gore, will simulcast The Stephanie Miller Show from 9 a.m. to noon Eastern time Monday through Friday. Miller (pictured), who came out in 2010, is known for her comedic approach to politics and other topics. Her nationally syndicated show also features sidekicks Jim Ward and Chris Lavoie, regular guests such as Queer as Folk’s Hal Sparks, and interviews with a variety of newsmakers.

Future generations will think it’s “ridiculous” that gay couples were ever denied the right to marry, says film director Rob Reiner, who has helped fund the court challenge to California’s anti–marriage equality Proposition 8. Reiner made the remark Monday while appearing on Stephanie Miller’s nationally syndicated radio talk show, which is also simulcast on Current TV. Momentum, he said, is on the side of equality, with polls indicating that a majority of Americans support equal marriage rights, and some Republicans joining Democrats in the pro-equality camp, although there is still strong opposition in some quarters.
