Jinx Beers: Lesbian, Pioneer and Activist - A Profile

In 2006, she was recognized as a “Feminist Who Changed America” for her efforts as an activist, educator and founder of the Los Angeles-based Lesbian News. And in 2009, she was doubly honored with a City of West Hollywood proclamation and an Etheridge award (named after singer Melissa Etheridge), given to those with a distinguished record of service to the LGBT community. Yet for all her accomplishments, Jinx Beers is still a neglected figure in contemporary lesbian history.
