LA Gay and Lesbian Center Celebrates 40 Years: Chaz Bono, Jane Lynch

The Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center celebrated 40 years of service to the LGBT community on November 12 with a star-studded gala and auction. Neil Patrick Harris, his partner David Burtka and Chaz Bono were honored during a program hosted by Leslie Jordan. Jane Lynch, David Arquette, Karina Smirnoff, Dita Von Teese, Meredith Baxter and Sara Gilbert were also in attendance.

Over 1,000 people attended the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center’s 39th Anniversary Gala and Auction on Nov. 13 in Century City this past weekend. Three iconic funny ladies - Kathy Griffin, Jane Lynch and Lily Tomlin - took the stage to make the gala, making for a very entertaining evening. The evening’s highlights included Tomlin performing as switchboard operator Ernestine, speeches by Glee’s Ryan Murphy and Matthew Morrison, who presented Jane Lynch with the Center’s Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award, Julie Brown’s musical sendup of Madonna’s “Vogue,” and a speech by Center CEO Lorri L. Jean, who announced plans to work with L.A. schools to make life better for LGBT youth by putting a stop to bullying and harassment.

Jane Lynch to be Honored at the L.A. Gay Lesbian Center�s 39th Anniversary Gala

Emmy Award-winning actress Jane Lynch (Glee, The L Word, Best in Show) will be presented with the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Rand Schrader Distinguished Achievement Award on November 13, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel. Matthew Morrison (Lynch’s Glee co-star and Broadway veteran) will present her with the award.
