Lesbian PDA at Shopping Center Leads to Demonstration

About 100 people gathered Sunday at Cameron Village shopping center in Raleigh NC to send a message of tolerance and togetherness. The demonstration grew out of an incident last Wednesday involving a security officer who asked a lesbian, Caitlin Breedlove, and her girlfriend to  leave the premises because they were being affectionate by kissing on the cheek.

Baptist Minister in North Carolina Protests Marriage Inequality

A lesbian minister in North Carolina has joined the ranks of those willing to officiate marriage ceremonies but not sign licenses until gay couples’ marriages have the same legal recognition as heterosexual ones. Nancy Petty (pictured), pastor of Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh, recently told her congregation she would prefer that straight couples have a magistrate at the local courthouse sign their license. She is waiting to hear if church deacons will endorse her position and if a vote of the congregation will be necessary.

Meredith Baxter graced center stage at the Human Rights Campaign Carolinas dinner in Raleigh, N.C. The openly lesbian actress made her first major address for an LGBT advocacy organization.?The "Family Ties" star, 62, spoke candidly about "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," coming out lesbian and harassment of gay youth in schools. Baxter joked about tabloid exposure, thanking Tiger Woods. "American Idol" star Clay Aiken, 31, also made an appearance. Watch the video here.
