From the director who gave us Sigourney Weaver, in her underwear, battling an oozing, toothy alien monster comes the new trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, costarring the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Charlize Theron.

There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don't under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value.

Big Hollywood summer popcorn flicks and lesbian-themed cinema don't typically collide, although there's an argument to be made that Angela Robinson's sexy spy story D.E.B.S and Jamie Babbit's teen angst / mini camp masterpiece But I'm a Cheerleader came pretty darned close.

Who's your favorite Final Girl?

The least lesbian Oscar nominations ever were announced this morning (caveat-‘least lesbian’ may be an exaggeration, but not by much). There was a dearth of lesbian and bisexual characters on the big screen in 2012, the likes of which have not been seen since Wings won the first Academy Award ever in 1927. Just last year Glenn Close and Janet McTeer were nominated for gender bending roles while Rooney Mara landed a nod for her incarnation of bisexual super hacker Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. 2011 saw a nomination for Annette Bening for her annoying lesbian character in The Kids are All Right (but at least it was something). And in 2009 Penelope Cruz won Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of a fiery bisexual artist in Vicki Cristina Barcelona.

Scream Queens don’t always make it to the final frame of a horror flick but the “Final Girls” always do. They’re the resilient, badasses who do battle with slasher-film psychos and live to tell about it – albeit they’re likely psychologically damaged once it’s over.
