Just over a week ago Ellen DeGeneres picked up the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. We posted her hilarious “thank you” speech last week but the full tribute aired on PBS last night and is now available to view via PBS.

With several of McKinley High’s most outstanding personalities graduating in just a few short weeks Glee’s producers have finally hinted at the fate of those characters and the show. Fox Entertainment’s Kevin Reilly said in a conference call Monday that the show’s fourth season will focus on a few of the graduating seniors and be set at a New York-based performing arts school, calling the premise a “show within a show,”

Earlier this week Ellen DeGeneres picked up the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Following funny women including Jane Lynch and Lily Tomlin, who paid tribute to the honoree, Ellen took the stage to offer thanks for the prize and to prove just why she was worthy of it with her hilarious, gentle humor. “I just thought that I’d be a closeted gay comedian wearing parachute pants.”

LGBT History Month in my home city of Norwich, England consisted of a weeks-long celebration of music, poetry, art, radio performances and lectures by prominent LGBT activists amongst other things. It was my first year of being part of a collective known as Pride Punk Picnic, the alternative, rebellious, kid sister of the official Norwich Pride. Celebrating our history shows that much headway has been made in the fight for equality, yet we still have a long way to go. Our collective decided an event called Underground: Norwich Against Homophobia would be a great way to do just that. As a member of Pride Punk and Dandelion and the Rockets -- one of the bands performing at Underground -- I found the reactions we received when promoting the event were both encouraging and disheartening.

After a private art show and concert for close friends and supporters Thursday night, Amanda Palmer (who rose to fame with The Dresden Dolls) passed around plates of paint and brushes, stripped down to the buff and let fans rush the barely 10-foot-wide stage to paint her naked body. Grammy and Academy Award-winning musician and out lesbian Melissa Etheridge was part of the tribute to singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen at the 2009 Kennedy Center Honors. The 32^nd annual event also recognized writer, composer, actor, director, and producer Mel Brooks; pianist and composer Dave Brubeck; opera singer Grace Bumbry; and actor, director, and producer Robert De Niro. Etheridge was joined by presenters including Aretha Franklin, Meryl Streep, Sharon Stone and Jane Krakowski.
