Felony charges were filed today against the Ohio student whose attack on a gay student was videotaped and posted online, according to local news reports. And now a second attack is being investigated for being hate-motivated. The Ross County prosecutor had been investigating the extent of the 15-year-old victim's injuries in the first attack to see whether they rose to the level of a felony charge. And the Columbus Dispatch reports that the attacker, identified now as 15-year-old Levi Sever, will next have to appear in juvenile court.

Tennessee Official Says Lesbians Should Serve Openly So Straight Men Can Convert Them

Gay men should not be allowed to serve openly in the military, but lesbians should be welcome because it would give straight male soldiers a chance to “convert” them, suggested a former Tennessee official in an online commentary. Joe Rehyansky posted his commentary last week on The Daily Caller, a right wing website. The site has since removed the part of the article that pertained to lesbian service members. “In the original article, Rehyansky concluded that his lesbians-only policy ‘would get the distaff part of our homosexual population off our collective ‘Broke Back,’ thus giving straight male GIs a fair shot at converting lesbians and bringing them into the mainstream,” he said.
