Gabrielle Christina Victoria "Gabby" Douglas is one of this year's Olympic darlings. As a member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team, Gabby is the first African American gymnast and woman of color, in Olympic history, to win gold medals in the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics.

Lesbian speed skater Ireen Wüst will bring the gold home to the Netherlands after winning the gold medal in the women's 1,500-meter race on Sunday. Wüst posted a time of 1 minute, 56.89 seconds to beat Canadian Kristina Groves by .25 seconds to capture her country's fifth speedskating medal of the Vancouver Olympics. Czech Martina Sablikova won the bronze with a time of 1:57.96. 

Megan Rapinoe is not only an Olympic gold medal winning athlete at the top of her game, she is also an outspoken advocate for the equality movement, making headlines over the summer after she came out publicly as a lesbian in Out Magazine.

Congratulations to the Dutch field hockey team for beating Argentina 2-0 to take the gold medal at the Olympics. One quarter of the women on the winning team in orange are out lesbians, making the them the most out team at the London Games. The Dutch team’s out athletes include Marilyn Agliotti, Kim Lammers, Maartje Paumen, and Carlien Dirkseke van den Heuvel.

This week the pop culture saturated duo attempt to get esoteric with art house film references laced with hookers, adulters and Kim Cattrall. 2012 brought us the Summer Olympics in London and an historic election for marriage equality, making it a guaranteed great year in sports. After these and other important moments in women’s athletics this year, we look to 2013 for even more excitement!

That’s it. It’s time. Less than a month until the 2010 Winter Olympics. Time to quit messing around and for this lesbian to start taking a good hard look at some sexy athletes. Twist my arm, I’ll do it. I’ve compiled a scientifically accurate list of the top women I think we should keep our eye on this winter. Shall we begin? Here's a hint.
