The sexual tension is undeniable!
Do tell us more.
...and Emma D'Arcy.
The Philadelphia Eagles have picked up the convicted dog-killer felon, Michael Vick. It’s a real fucking problem for one lesbian right there in the City of Brotherly Love.
We’ve long lauded the country’s Top Hot Butches here at SheWired, but in honor of International Femme Appreciation Day this week (officially it was July 3, but true femmes move at our own pace) I decided to give our lovely femme fillies a bit of attention. Don’t know what a femme is?
Chemistry isn’t always sexual. Although, sometimes it is and it’s just not acted upon, or sometimes it’s just projected on to an on-screen duo by hopeful fans. Television is fast becoming the go-to spot for diverse, challenging and fun roles for women, which means that on a given night channel surfing pays off with any number of amazing actresses on the heating up the small screen and often together.
Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie blew the doors off the Oscars. Brad Pitt's a lucky bastard. Eden Riegel's Bianca and Tamara Braun's Reese continued to do battle after their lesbian wedding was ruined by an icky girl / boy kiss on All my Children. Law and Order: SVU breaks out the real-life lesbians to tell a transgender story and Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw continue with frustrating foreplay on Grey's Anatomy.
Did your faves get nominated?
These days you can’t swing a cat on television without hitting a scattered LGBT character or two on just about any given night. Sundays give us The Good Wife’s bisexual Kalinda while Revenge has bisexual Nolan and Shameless has a gay son. Modern Family and The New Normal offer up gay dads while freshman series Go On and Chicago Fire feature full-on lesbian characters in those ensembles. And of course, there are tried-and-true, beloved lesbian and gay characters on Glee, Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.
We adore CSI’s Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), Law and Order: SVU’s Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and Prime Suspect’s Jane (both Maria Bello and Helen Mirren for the U.S. and U.K. versions respectively). But there are a few female cops of bygone eras (and one new hotshot we had to include) that deserve our props, too.
SheWired's sibling publication The Advocate held its annual 'A Day in Gay America' on Nov. 9., and received hundreds of submissions from regular folks --and a few celebrities--who just happen to be LGBT Americans. And we have a round-up of many of the out women who participated. View all photos in various categories from A Day in Gay America here.
Talk show diva Tyra Banks enters 'The Gay Kingdom," on All My ChildrenEden Riegel's Bianca and Tamara Braun's Reese bid goodbye with nary a full-on lesbian kiss in sight. Otalia has a weekend renezvous, Sara Ramirez's Callie and Jessica Capshaw's Arizona have a mini spat and Kelly McGillis comes out as gay.
