Ryan Murphy's gay-parenting sitcom will see the addition of a lesbian couple in an upcoming episode.

Former The L Word darling Leisha Hailey and Entourage’s Constance Zimmer made their first appearance as a lesbian couple on Ryan Murphy and Ali Adler’s gay-themed sitcom The New Normal Tuesday. While Leisha and Constance appeared only in one scene at the beginning of the episode it was still great to see Leisha --who’s been spending most of her time these days playing with her band Uh Huh Her–- back in front of the camera.

Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler’s new half hour comedy pilot entitled The New Normal was ordered by NBC today, according to the industry website Deadline Hollywood. Adler, an out lesbian, served as Co-Executive Producer on Chuck and No Ordinary Family, but made headlines last year when her break-up with Sara Gilbert went public.

The coalition of One Million Moms has a new target. The group, which protested companies like Kraft/Nabisco and JC Penney being gay allies, is now leading the charge to out creators Ryan Murphy and Alison Adler’s highly anticipated sitcom, The New Normal. The show features a gay couple, played by Andrew Rannels and Justin Bartha, who attempt to have a child with a surrogate, played by Georgia King.

AMC has just announced that it’s adding a scrappy young lesbian character to its cult favorite series The Killing.

The New Normal, featuring a gay couple and their journey to have a baby, premieres this week on NBC. The show has become a target for antigay activist group One Million Moms, which claims the depiction of same-sex parents was something unprecedented on television, and symbolized "the decay of morals and values," the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation reports.

The second season of lesbian web series We Have to Stop Now, starring Jill Bennett, Cathy DeBuono and Suzanne Westenhoefer, is coming soon! The new season's guest stars include newly out Meredith Baxter, Erin Foley, Nicol Paone, Kate McKinnon, Gloria Bigelow, Cherry Bomb, Doria Biddle, Dani Campbell, Sandra Valls, Mariah Hanson, Dr. Jack, Maryfrances Carrecia, Shannan Reeve, and Jennifer Corday.

These days you can’t swing a cat on television without hitting a scattered LGBT character or two on just about any given night. Sundays give us The Good Wife’s bisexual Kalinda while Revenge has bisexual Nolan and Shameless has a gay son. Modern Family and The New Normal offer up gay dads while freshman series Go On and Chicago Fire feature full-on lesbian characters in those ensembles. And of course, there are tried-and-true, beloved lesbian and gay characters on Glee, Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.
