The mother of a lesbian who went missing last year filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County and the Sheriff's Department Tuesday. Mitrice Richardson was seen last Sept. 7 when she was arrested in Malibu, Calif., for her inability to pay a $90 bill at a restaurant. Richardson was released from a sheriff's station early in the morning after exhibiting strange behavior in her jail cell the previous night.

County Sheriff's Malibu station in the middle of the night without her car, cell phone, or purse.

A 25-year-old lesbian, Laura Gilbert, and her friend Sheila Siddall allege that they were beaten up by about a dozen people at the Villa bar in Opelika, Ala. based on Gilbert’s sexual orientation. Siddall called 911 but when the police arrived they only arrested Gilbert, although Sheriff Jay Jones admits that Gilbert and Siddall were the only ones who sustained visible injuries. He also said that if a hate crime had occurred it would have been treated as such. However, Alabama’s hate crime laws do not include protections for sexual orientation.

Vigils across the state of Texas were held to memorialize Britney Cosby and Crystal Jackson.

Police in Galveston County, Texas, arrested James Larry Cosby on Thursday in connection with the murder of his daughter, Britney Cosby, and her girlfriend, Crystal Jackson.

A father allegedly murdered his daughter's girlfriend because they were lesbians. Jerry Lee Seger of Florida strangled 24-year-old Courtney Bright to death. "He killed her because they were lesbians." Johnson said the girls were in love and inseparable. They had been together for three years. An autopsy determined that Bright had been killed April 20 or 21.

The Vonore, Tennessee lesbian couple who filed a lawsuit in February claiming a former neighbor set fire to their home in September of 2010, Carol Ann and Laura Stutte, are being accused of setting the fire by their insurance company.
