The stakes are high as voters rushed to the polls in Massachusetts Tuesday in a special election for U.S. Senate between Democrat Martha Coakley, who supports gay and lesbian rights and Republican Scott Brown. The race is down to the wire to fill the seat of the late U.S. senator Ted Kennedy.

Amazing out actress, comedienne and out lesbian Lily Tomlin will join the third season of Glenn Close's high-stakes, dark lawyer drama Damages. Tomlin will go up against Close (hot!) as the matriarch of a powerful family. Perhaps Tomlin will take Close's current nemesis, Rose Byrne's Ellen, under her wing.
