It’s been out in the ether for some time that Lifetime was working on a reboot of the classic dramedy Steel Magnolias featuring and all African-American cast, and now word is out that Queen Latifah will executive produce and star in the film that features a heavy -hitting cast including Adepero Oduye, star of last year's acclaimed lesbian-themed indie Pariah. The remake stars Latifah as M’Lynn, Alfre Woodard as Ouiser, Phylicia Rashad as Clairee, Jill Scott as Truvee, Oduye as Anelle and Condola Rashad as Shelby.
Nominations for the 30th Annual Razzie Awards were announced Monday, recognizing the worst-of-the-worst in the film industry. Megan Fox is nominated for Worst Actress along with Miley Cyrus. Twilight's Robert Pattinson is nominated and part-time lesbian Lindsay Lohan. Sandra Bullock could win one day before winning an Academy Award for The Blind Side. Mariah Carey is also nominated with Jennifer Lopez and Madonna.
