At Facebook, change is all in the details. Social networking giant Facebook has added two new icons to denote same-sex married couples for LGBT users. Previously, being married on the Facebook Timeline was symbolized by a bride and groom icon. Now same-sex couples can choose either two brides or two grooms.

Gay couples ready to marry in New York hit a small speed bump on the road to wedding bliss when they tried to fill out marriage license applications early Tuesday morning. While the forms were made available to same-sex couples for the first time, the language on the applications still used the terms “bride” and “groom.”

Conversations between GLAAD and The Today Show over the program’s Modern Day Wedding Contest have paid off: Today announced Thursday it will open the competition to same-sex couples. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation approached the show to change its rules and allow gay couples to compete after discovering “bride” and “groom” were the only two options on the entry form.

American actress Lily Tomlin dressed as a rainbow-colored superhero to kick off this year's Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade, where superheroes marched alongside pairs of brides, pairs of grooms, cheerleaders, nuns, and vampires this past weekend. The Australian Marriage Equality Now float lampooned two marriage equality opponents, featuring giant figures of Prime Minister Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott, leader of the opposition Liberal Party in parliament, speaking to each other in thought bubbles. Gillard was portrayed wearing a wedding dress, Abbott a brief bathing suit.
