A Michigan woman raising her child with her partner said the Army won't let her reenlist due to the military's own policies on child custody butting up against laws barring the federal government from recognizing same-sex couples.

A lesbian couple, Misty Turner and Brandy Standifer, and their children, were attending a July 4th fireworks display in Pathfork, Kentucky when they were attacked by a crowd of people,according to Towleroad (via The Lexington Herald-Leader). The couple, their children, and their extended family sat in a church parking lot to watch a fireworks display when people at a party across the street began shooting fireworks at them. The fireworks landed among the women's group, burning Turner's biological son, her 80-year-old grandmother and others.

Since the world community has descended on Haiti with relief aid in response to the January 12th earthquake, I am wondering how Haiti's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) communities are being helped.
 

I like a good boycott. Chick-fil-A's CEO is an unabashed antigay donor? Fine, I don't need his deep-fried, sodium-chicken anyway. We even un-registered from Target for my 2010 wedding and switched to Bed Bath & Beyond because the CEO had donated to an antigay organization. The spouse and I are gangster like that. Quite frankly, I can thoroughly live the rest of my life without Russian vodka. I'm more of a craft beer or tiny winery type of gal, anyway.

There's still so much more work to be done -- especially when you live in Pennsylvania.
